Play Review

                          "Digdarshak The Hindi Play"

                                    On 8th August Film screening committee of Department of English organised the screening of one act  play named "Digdarshak". it was worth watching play as it has portrayed the conflict between Theater and cinema. this is a main theme which captures the audience's attention. This play is written by 'Priyam jani' and Directed by 'Rishit jhaveri'. 

                                    We find autobiographical elements of Directer himself in the play. Directer  trained an actor very well for best acting. he gave his everything to theater and spend larger amount of time at theater. He has same expectation from his actors that they should give prime priority to theater. It's very hard job to work in theater where you have to give ample time to work. but if one is interested in such work than Hard thing become easier one. 

                                    Central theme of the play is conflict between Theater and Cinema. Directer trained one boy as an actor who has Rural background, but after having mastery over acting he started his journey towards Cinema which was unbearable shock for directer. It's natural because when you nurtured something for specific purpose but suddenly it changed the direction then it's unbearable for anybody. but at that time one should keep in mind that "Change is the natural law of universe". Directer is somehow orthodox in his behavior that he could not allow actor for cinema. when you believe in certain morality, rules and regulation at that time it's not necessary that other people will also value the same thing. so broader perspective is required for self. 

                                   we have age long debate on this issue. "Art for the Art's sake" which gives aesthetic delight, pleasure and morality, or "Art for life sake". There is nothing bad in Art for life sake because it will serve the purpose of aesthetic pleasure as well. If you can earn money through your skills then it is the best way of doing the things. inborn craving in human is progress, name and fame.As a human being we want to do something that people can remember us after death. And if someone's Art leads towards the progress in life then this may the ultimate goal.

                                   Conflict between Cinema and Theater can be seen as the "conflict between Old and New Generation". one of the great desires of old generation is that younger children should follow their way of living. But it's not possible at all because New generation have their own unique ideas and thought which may not fit in the Old generation's box. because they have habit of thinking out of the box. But old generation can not accept this and therefor we find a constant conflict between them. 

                                   Another theme of the play is " Balance between work life and personal life". it's very difficult for anyone to distinguish work life from personal life. At certain point we can observe that one is sacrificed for the sake of other. Directer of the play was became mingle with his work in such way that he forgot his personal life, as a result his son turns out to be rebellion against him. But a successful person can handle both the life in parallel way. This is also a one kind of success of great people.
